The words become blurred, machines swallow up the self. What remains when the text no longer speaks, but empties itself? We search for the moment in which we lose ourselves—between letters, between the blank page and the machine that shapes us. Writing without an origin, being without a destination.

The book was written with the dialogue system developed for the performance »neither host nor guest«. It contains seven human-AI dialogues created in the mode of archaic friendliness, as expressed in the Zen phrase neither host nor guest / host and guest apparently". There is no distinction between host and guest, between me and you, between human and AI, but rather a relationship of openness and indifference.

This stance is simulated via System Prompt in a Large Language Model and realized in an interface of simultaneity. Both authors write their own text and read the text of the other in parallel, whereby they flow into each other. The resulting texts are printed unchanged. The interface and the temporal progression of the writing are taken up in the design of the book.

The project seeks forms of a human-technology relationship that is less characterized by comparative and discriminatory thinking and sees technology less as a means of control and more as part of an aesthetic existence.
